After yesterday's 75-66 win over the Purdue Boilermakers, the Iowa Hawkeyes are Big Ten Tournament Champions. They also earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

En route to winning the whole thing, the Hawks took victories over Northwestern (112-76), Rutgers (84-74), Indiana (80-77), and Purdue.

The victory over the Hoosiers in the semifinals of the tournament will go down in Big Ten lore, for a variety of reasons.

Not only did Indiana (who entered the tournament as the nine-seed) make it all the way to the semis, they defeated top-seeded Illinois 65-63 in the quarterfinals, essentially solidifying their spot in March Madness. They then took the Hawkeyes down to the wire, scaring the daylights out of Iowa fans everywhere.

On what could have been the game-sealing possession for the Hawkeyes, sophomore guard Tony Perkins received the inbound pass from Connor McCaffrey with 40 seconds left and a 77-75 lead. After receiving a screen from Connor as he moved up the court, Perkins lost control of the basketball. It was picked up by Indiana point guard Xavier Johnson and laid up for an easy deuce. Tie ball game with 30.7 seconds to go.

Iowa held the ball for the final shot, and as everyone knew would happen, the Hawks did what they could to get the ball to their best player,  Keegan Murray.

After a series of failed attempts, sixth-year point guard Jordan Bohannon ended up with the ball in his hands as the final seconds ticked off the clock. Forced to take the final shot, the Marion native launched a three-pointer from beyond NBA range and banked it home for the 80-77 win. You know the rest.

As a multitude of news stations did across the midwest and the country as a whole, Waterloo's very own KWWL reported on the game.

And don't get us wrong for what we're about to share -- KWWL does incredible work and they've got great people in their sports department. They just happened to make this hilarious mistake that went viral on Twitter:

Game winning what? Oops.
