A Waterloo motorcyclist is seriously injured after crashing into a deer over the weekend.

Fayette County sheriff officials received a report of a traffic accident on U.S. Highway 18 and "F" Avenue, west of Clermont, just before 8:30 p.m. on Saturday (June 25, 2016).

Investigating deputies found that Thomas Lorenz, 59, of Waterloo, was driving his motorcycle west on Highway 18, when he was struck by a deer that ran out from a ditch.

Lorenz was taken by Clermont ambulance to the hospital in West Union, to be treated for serious injuries. There was no word on his condition.

The motorcycle was totaled in the accident.
