The accident happened on a heavily-traveled segment of Iowa Highway 58 around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday (May 10, 2017).

An Iowa State Patrol crash report identified the victim as Christopher Porter. Authorities said Porter, 41, died when his car collided with a Blackhawk Waste Disposal truck that was attempting to turn left onto the eastbound on-ramp of U.S Highway 20/Iowa Highway 27.

The garbage truck’s driver failed to yield and struck Porter’s car nearly head-on, the Iowa State Patrol said in the report.

The accident remains under investigation.
