An overnight traffic stop ends with the arrest of a Waterloo man on weapons charges.

Tyrone Parrow, Jr., 25, was booked into the Black Hawk County jail for carrying a gun and for possession of a firearm as a felon due to a previous domestic abuse conviction.

According to Waterloo police, officers stopped a vehicle for an apparent traffic violation in the 2800 block of West 9th Street around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday (April 7, 2015). While approaching the vehicle, police said officers observed Parrow – a passenger – reaching toward the floor board area near the front seat. They also detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.

Officers searched the vehicle and found a loaded 9 mm semi-automatic handgun underneath Parrow's seat, police said.
