Waterloo police have ended their search for the driver of a car that was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run accident in the city early Sunday morning (Oct. 25, 2015).

Steven Arceneaux Jr., 30, is charged in connection with the incident, which occurred around 1 a.m.

According to Waterloo police captain Dave Mohlis, Arceneaux called the police station early today to report that he may have been the driver that struck and injured a teenager at the intersection of Broadway and Riehl streets. At the request of authorities, Arceneaux voluntarily went to the police station to be questioned.

Arceneaux was charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident after police determined he was driving the car that struck Lyisha Dixon, 13, Mohlis said.

Officers have been looking for the driver of a black, four-door car since Sunday's mishap.

According to police, Arceneaux left the parking lot of the New World Lounge and struck Dixon as she and her 16-year-old cousin were attempting to cross Broadway St.

Dixon was treated for facial injuries at Unity Point-Allen Hospital in Waterloo and later released. Her cousin was not injured.
