A Waterloo business had to be evacuated overnight, over threats of a possible impending explosion.

Rescue crews were called to the John Deere Foundry on Westfield Avenue around 2:30 this morning (Nov. 1, 2017).

A furnace at the industry had apparently boiled over, spilling molten metal. No one was injured in the spill, but there was concern that the furnace would explode. The facility was evacuated as a precaution.

However, the threat of a possible explosion passed, and firefighters were sent back to the station.
