A Waterloo man has been arrested for allegedly burglarizing a business in Oran, while he was wanted for escaping a correctional institution.

Just before noon on Sunday (Jan. 24th), the Fayette County Sheriff was called to Innovative Ag Services in Oran, on the report of a burglary to the buildings and offices.

During the investigation, someone told authorities they spotted a man on the business grounds, then walking east out of Oran on a gravel road.

Officers found the suspect, identified as 47 year old Brian Jon Latham of Waterloo.

Deputies discovered Latham was wanted in Black Hawk County for an escape charge from the Department of Correctional Services.

When Latham was taken into custody on the warrant, officers found him to be in possession of burglary tools, items taken from the burglary in Oran, and a large amount of cash.

He was taken to the Fayette County jail, charged with burglary in the 2nd degree, criminal trespassing, and possession of burglary tools.

Latham was on parole for numerous burglaries in 2011 in Fayette County, and had been a resident at the Waterloo Residential Facility when he escaped on December 31st.
