The Waterloo Black Hawks' upcoming season begins in less than two months but they won't play at home until early October, the United States Hockey League announced with the release of its 2016-17 schedule on Wednesday (July 27, 2016).

The slate shows Waterloo playing seven of its first eight games on the road, starting with the season-opener at Des Moines on Saturday, Sept. 24. The Black Hawks host the Lincoln Stars on Oct. 8 in their first home game at Young Arena.

Waterloo's 60-game schedule starts with four-straight on the road. The season ends on April 8, when the Black Hawks host the Fargo Force.

“Months of planning have already been put into making the games on this schedule memorable for our fans,” said Waterloo Black Hawks Vice President of Sales and Marketing Joe Greene. “Time is ticking down to our home opener, and we will be using every bit of it to find ways that fans of all ages can have even more fun in Party Town.”

Waterloo’s winter will be highlighted by traditional games on Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders and Madison Capitols respectively. Friday, Saturday, and weeknight home games will begin at 7:05, with the exception of a special 6:05 puck drop on New Year’s Eve. The Hawks will also play two Sunday home games, both beginning at 3:05.

The Black Hawks will immediately begin reserving seats for groups planning to attend regular season games. For details about the savings and special opportunities available to groups of 10 or more, contact the Hawks at (319) 232-3444.

Season tickets for the 2016-17 home schedule are also available, including new $99 pricing for kids age 12 and under. Single-game tickets for all regular season home games will go on sale Thursday, Sept. 1.
