Wartburg Knights baseball player DJ Utley was named the Iowa Conference Male Athlete of the week. It marks the second time that Utley has received this honor.

Utley, a senior first baseman for the Wartburg Knights, hit .500 (10-of-20) with a .700 slugging percentage as Wartburg won four of six games the week of March 30, 2015.

Early in the week, Wartburg (No. 10 ABCA/Collegiate Baseball, No. 14 NCBWA/D3baseball.com) swept a doubleheader against Luther. Over the weekend, the Knights split with No. 14/17 Buena Vista.

Utley finished the week with a double, a home run, nine RBIs, five runs scored and drew seven walks.

Utley went 1-for-5 with an RBI and three walks in the Luther doubleheader, then capped the week with a 9-for-15 effort against the Beavers.

He drove in four in an 8-3 series-opening win on April 3, then rapped four hits with an RBI and three runs scored as Wartburg took game two, 14-6.

He had a double and walked twice in a 5-4 loss in the third game of the series, then finished the week with an RBI single and a 2-run home run in a 10-9 in the series finale.

The Knights' first baseman also was honored by the Iowa Conference as the Male Player of the Week just two weeks prior.
