On Saturday, January 18, 2014, the Wartburg Knights hosted a men's and women's basketball doubler header against Coe College.  The men's team had to hold off Coe's late game rally for the 71-65 win.  The women's team had to do the rallying, but fell short to Coe, 74-70.

When the men's game broke for halftime, the Knights (8-7, 2-2) held the advantage, 40-26.  The Kohawks (9-6, 1-3) came roaring back during the second half.  With less than a minute and a half left to play, Coe had pulled with in three points, 68-65.  Despite a strong run by the Kohawks, the Knights held on for the win.

Three Knights ended the game with 14 points, Taylor Jacobsmeier, Clay Cook, and Jordan Cannon.  Cedar Falls native Eddie Diemer joined them in double digits with 11 points.

The women's game was reversed at halftime.  The Kohawks (7-8, 2-2) lead the Knights (7-8, 1-3), 37-31.  Wartburg outscored Coe 39-37 in the second half.  They tied the game 67-67 with 2:28 to play, but it was Coe who would prevail in the end.

Junior Alyssa Sager led the team with 16 points.  Holly Halstead  contributed 13 points, and Bobbi Burrows added 11 points.

Next Up: The men's team travels to Buena Vista for a Wednesday night match-up.  THe lady Knights will join them for yet another men's/women's double header.
