Voters across Iowa went to the polls and elected local school board representatives on Tuesday (Sept. 8, 2015).

There was an upset in one of the area's contested races. In Cedar Falls, two incumbants won re-election, but voters ousted School Board President Joyce Coil.

Coil finished fifth in what was essentially a six-person field. The ballot included Stephan Egger's name, even though he dropped out of the race last month.

In Cedar Falls, the top vote-getters were incumbants Jenny Leeper and Dr. James Kenyon. The two newcomers elected to the board were Susie Holmes and Jeff Hassman. Coil finished fifth in her bid to win re-election.

Results of the Cedar Falls school board election and other contested races around the area are posted below.

Voters in a 10-county region of Northeast Iowa also decided to renew an instructional equipment levy for Hawkeye Community College.
