Vikings Player Reportedly Indicted On Child Injury Charges

Will Adrian Peterson play against the New England Patriots on Sunday? A serious legal problem leaves the status of the Minnesota Vikings' star running back in doubt.

According to Fox Sports NFL Insider Jay Glazer, Peterson has been indicted on charges connected to a child's injury. He's been ordered to turn himself in to law enforcement authorities in Texas.

The FOX affiliate in Houston is reporting that Peterson has been charged with reckless or negligent injury to a child. The allegation apparently involves an 11-year-old boy.

According to ESPN, Peterson's lawyer has confirmed that Peterson is under some sort of investigation. Attorney Rusty Hardin given no other details.

Peterson missed practice on Thursday (September 11, 2014) after rushing for 75 yards on 21 carries in the Vikings' season-opening win at St. Louis on Sunday. Coach Mike Zimmer told ESPN that Peterson took a normal day off.

Peterson was back at practice, as normal, today. Earlier this week, the Vikings said that Peterson's playing time against the Patriots would not be limited on Sunday. The reported legal problems, however, put his status for the game in question.

The team released the following statement: "The Vikings are in the process of gathering information regarding the legal situation involving Adrian Peterson. At this time, we will defer further questions to Adrian's attorney Rusty Hardin."

Fox Sports is reporting that Peterson is expected to turn himself in to authorities.
