It will be a reunion of sorts for Panther wrestling when UNI hosts Eastern Michigan Sunday, January 4, 2015 (2:00 PM) to kick off its 2015 conference schedule.

Members of the 1974-75 wrestling team will be on hand for their induction into UNI’s Hall of Fame. Under the direction of head coach Chuck Patten, the 1974-75 UNI wrestling team captured the NCAA Division II team title championship in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. It was the school’s first team national title since the 1950 wrestling team won.

UNI will be protecting a perfect record against Eastern Michigan (6-0) dating back to 1967. The Panthers haven’t faced the Eagles since 2010. Inclement weather canceled last year’s scheduled dual.

UNI’S LINEUP:
The Panthers enter the dual with a 3-3 dual record and three nationally ranked wrestlers - No. 7 Dylan Peters (125 pounds), No. 11 Cooper Moore (165 pounds) and No. 15 Blaize Cabell (heavyweight). Moore is the top-ranked wrestler in the MAC at 165 pounds, while Peters and Cabell are ranked second in their respective weight classes.

Cabell and Moore are the only Panthers still undefeated in dual competition.

The only Panther-Eagle rematch will be at 157 pounds. Brandon Zeerip ended Jarrett Jensen’s run at last year’s MAC tournament. Jensen held Zeerip to a 5-4 decision. Zeerip is a senior and ranked fourth in the MAC.

EMU’S LINEUP:
In addition to Zeerip, the Eagles have two more wrestlers ranked in the top four for the MAC with junior Vincent Pizzuto (133 pound) at third and junior Michael Shaw (141 pounds) at fourth.

Shayne Wireman (125 pounds) is the only Eagle in the lineup with a perfect dual record (6-0). Austin Geerlings (165 pounds) and Mike Curby (184 pounds) are still looking for their first dual wins of the year.
