The University of Northern Iowa football team was dominant in the first round of the Division I FCS Playoffs on Saturday, November 29, 2014.  UNI defeating the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks 44-10. UNI improved its overall record to 9-4.

UNI scored its largest margin of victory in a playoff game with the 44-10 win over Stephen F. Austin (previous mark of 28 points was set Dec. 8, 2001 vs. Maine, 56-28).

David Johnson led the Panthers with 23 carries for 152 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns, also adding two catches for 84 yards and a touchdown. Brion Carnes finished with 205 passing yards from five completions.

On the defensive side of the ball, Deiondre’ Hall finished with a career-high 11 tackles along with his fourth interception of the season. Jake Farley added 11 tackles and two quarterback hurries while Isaac Ales finished with six tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

"I was very pleased in how we came out at the beginning of the football game," UNI head coach Mark Farley stated after the game.  "They really came out focused today."

UNI will return to action in the second round of the Division I FCS Playoffs on Saturday, Dec. 6 when they take on the Illinois State Redbirds on the road. The game is set to kick off at 1 p.m. CT.
