UNI MBB Wins 10th Straight; Beat Indiana State, 61-51

The University of Northern Iowa men’s basketball team extended its win streak to 10 in a row with a 61-51 victory at Indiana State on Tuesday, February 3, 2015.

No. 14/No. 15 UNI (21-2, 10-1 MVC) had three players reach double-figure scoring led by senior Seth Tuttle’s 15 points. Sophomore Jeremy Morgan scored 12 points and grabbed a career-high nine rebounds. Junior Wes Washpun added 10 points, three assists and three steals.

The game was tied 8-8 before UNI used a 9-0 run to take a 17-8 lead with 10:41 left in the first half. UNI would push the advantage to 11 at 26-15 following a 3-pointer from senior Deon Mitchell with 4:25 left in the first half. UNI would lead 33-22 at the intermission.

Indiana State (11-12 overall, 7-4 MVC) could get no closer than 10 points in the second half. UNI opened up an 18-point bulge at 49-31 on a Paul Jesperson layup with 9:57 left in the game.

UNI limited Indiana State to 37.3 percent shooting in the game – marking the 16th time this season that UNI has held the opposition to less than 40 percent shooting.
