The University of Northern Iowa football program will hit the road to take on the Illinois State Redbirds, Saturday, December 6, 2014 for the second round of the Division I FCS Playoffs. Kick-off is slated for 1:00 PM-CDT in Normal, IL.

Illinois State enters the weekend with a 10-1 record on the season.  Their one loss came at the hands of UNI back on November 1.  Illinois State came into the game ranked No. 6 in the FCS and undefeated, with UNI ending up being their only loss of the season. UNI had three touchdowns in the game that came from either special teams play or defense, including a kick-off return for 98 yards (David Johnson), a blocked punt return for a touchdown (Charles Brown) and a pick-six (Tim Kilfoy).

The Panthers picked up a first round win over Stephen F. Austin on Saturday, Nov. 29, defeating the Lumberjacks 44-10. David Johnson led the team with 236 all-purpose yards (152 rush, 84 rcv.) and four touchdowns.

UNI currently ranks first in the FCS in sacks and led the MVFC in the statistic. The Panthers have 50 sacks on the season, ranking fourth all-time at UNI in single-season sacks. The school record for sacks in a season is 57.0 in 1991.

The game is set for a 1:00 PM-CDT start in Normal, IL.  The game will be carried live by ESPN3 or the WatchESPN APP.
