After a sub-par start to the season, a strong finish should earn UNI a berth into the NCAA Football Championship Sub-Division (FCS) playoffs.

The Panthers closed their regular-season with a 38-24 win over Missouri State at the UNI-Dome today (Saturday, November 22, 2014). It's UNI's fifth-straight victory after starting the season 3-4.

UNI will learn its playoff at 10 a.m. tomorrow when the selection show is broadcast live on ESPNU. The public is invited to join the team at the UNI-Dome and watch the broadcast on the jumbotron.

Senior running back David Johnson (Clinton, Iowa) ran for a career-high 206 yards on 31 carries in his final regular-season game for the Panthers. Johnson rushed for scores of six-, 31- and nine-yards in the victory over the Bears.

Johnson was one of several seniors honored before the game. After it ended, embattled Missouri State Coach Terry Allen admitted it was likely his final contest with the Bears. Allen, who was given a one-year contract before the season, plans to meet with Missouri State on Sunday or Monday to talk about his future.

Allen just completed his ninth season at Missouri State, where he's 37-64. Allen is a UNI alum, who coached the Panthers to from 1987-1993. UNI Coach Mar Farley began his career in 1987 working as an assistant under Allen.
