Road construction work will require nighttime lane closures on a portion of U.S. Highway 218 in Waterloo for about a month, starting Monday (July 25, 2016).

According to the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT), crews are scheduled to do concrete patching on the southbound lanes of U.S. 218 between George Wyth State Park and the Iowa Highway 27/57/58 interchange in Cedar Falls. The contractor will utilize lane closures to complete the patching in stages within the following allowable hours:

  • Sundays: From 10 p.m. until 7 a.m.
  • Weekdays (Monday through Friday): From 7 p.m. until 6 a.m.

IDOT officials said the project is expected to be completed by late August, weather permitting.

Also starting on Monday, deck replacement work on a bridge in Tama County will require the closure of U.S. Highway 63 between Hudson and Traer. For detour information, CLICK HERE.
