A University of Iowa football player has been cited by law enforcement officials for an incident that happened this past weekend in Iowa City.

Iowa athletics officials are in the process of gathering facts about the incident involving Omar Truitt, 19. in regards to the incident.

According to Iowa City police, Truitt was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (OWI) early around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday (Feb. 14, 2016).

Truitt is subject to established university protocol in regards to the UI student life code of conduct and team rules and regulations set for members of the football program.

Truitt is a native of Fort Washington, MD., where he attended St. Johns College High School. He did not see action as a red-shirt sophomore in 2015. He red-shirted in 2014.
