Waterloo police have arrested two people in connection with a residential shooting Wednesday night (March 30, 2016).

Daelin Cole, 18, and Jylan Moore, 19, were both taken into custody following an investigation of the incident. Cole is charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, going armed with intent, willful serious injury and possession of firearm as a felon. Moore is charged with possession of marijuana-second offense.

The shooting occurred at 2007 W. 3rd Street shortly before 11:30 p.m. According to Waterloo police, officers arriving at the residence were told that a robbery had just occurred and a male victim was shot once in the abdomen.

Police identified the shooting victim as Houston Simmons, 19, who was taken to a local hospital in a private vehicle before officers arrived at the home. Simmons' injury was not believed to be life-threatening, police said.

According to Waterloo police Captain Dave Mohlis, witnesses at the scene gave investigating officers a description of the suspect's vehicle and direction of travel. Police were also told that one suspect fled on foot.

Mohlis said officers searched the neighborhood and located the suspect on foot. Mohlis also confirmed that police found the suspect vehicle with two occupants inside.

Cole and Moore were taken to the Black Hawk County jail.

According to Mohlis, the incident remains under investigation and additional charges may be filed.
