Two people are recovering from injuries suffered in an accident at Cedar Falls Raceway early Sunday morning (June 3, 2018).

Lisa Talaska, 52, of Janesville, and Shelly Liddell, 39, of Cedar Falls, were among several people riding a utility task vehicle (UTV) that rolled on its top after leaving the track's pit area, Black Hawk County sheriff's officials said. According to authorities, Talaska complained of rib and wrist pain and Liddell suffered a leg injury. Both were taken to a Waterloo hospital for treatment.

The UTV's driver -- Chad Kinkade, 46, of Waterloo -- and two other passengers on the UTV escaped injury, officials said.

Deputies were called to the raceway at 7227 Waverly Road (County Road V-14/old U.S. Highway 218) on a report of an accident just after midnight. According to authorities, Kinkade was making several sharp turns when the four-wheeler overturned. The accident happened after Kinkade drove the UTV off a paved road and entered a grassy area.

The mishap remains under investigation by Black Hawk County sheriff's officials.
