An early morning accident in Evansdale injured two Waterloo residents.

Just before 6:30 A.M. today (3/7/17) Black Hawk County Sheriff Deputies were called to a single motor vehicle accident on I-380 at mile marker 69.

When deputies arrived they saw a black 2008 Pontiac G6 lying on the Evansdale Bike Trail below on River Road. The two occupants had to be extricated from the vehicle by Waterloo Fire Department.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle, driven by Aja Bennett, 25, of Waterloo, was traveling southbound on I-380 when it lost control. The vehicle left the roadway and subsequently rolled through the highway fencing below, coming to rest on the bike trail.

The driver, as well as the passenger, Antonio Harris, 27, also from Waterloo, were transported to Covenant Medical Center by Waterloo Fire Rescue. Their conditions have not been released.

The accident remains under investigation.

Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Waterloo Fire, the Iowa State Patrol and Sheetz Towing.
