An ongoing investigation into a series of recent shootings in Waterloo resulted in two arrests on Saturday (June 8, 2017).

Waterloo police said Todd Goodson and Dentonious Washington were taken into custody after traffic stop led authorities to 1240 Downing Court, where they executed a warrant to search the property. During the search, officers located three firearms -- a 9mm handgun, a .45 caliber handgun and a .556-caliber short barreled rifle. Along with the weapons, officers also located quantities of cocaine and marijuana.

Authorities believe the weapons are all connected to several recent shootings in Waterloo, especially the .556-caliber rifle.

Goodson was charged with two counts of possession of a weapon by a felon, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, drug tax stamp violation and possession with intent to deliver marijuana. Police said other charges against Goodson are pending, including trafficking stolen weapons. Washington was charged with carrying weapons and two counts of possession of marijuana.
