A trio of small tornadoes touched down in eastern and central Iowa, the National Weather Service confirmed on Tuesday (Nov. 29, 2016).

Survey teams assessing the reports of Monday’s potential tornadoes determined that three separate EF-0 twisters — each about 10-yards wide with maximum wind speeds estimated between 70 and 75 miles per hour — touched down briefly in Butler, Grundy and Hardin counties.

In Butler County, surveyors determined a small twister was on the ground for about two minutes and caused some minor damage in a 1.6-mile-long path east of Parkersburg.

To the south, in Grundy County, a tornado was on the ground for about one minute, but caused no structural damage. Officials measured the path to be about two-tenths-of-a-mile just west of Grundy Center.

Further west, in Hardin County, a twister was on the ground about four minutes and left a path of destruction estimated to be a mile long. The tornado damaged roofs, knocked down trees and power lines and overturned a vehicle on the north side of Radcliffe.

The National Weather Service received reports of at least six tornadoes in Iowa on Monday.
