Adverse weather is impacting some area football games on the opening night of the 2015 Iowa high school season. One will kick-off earlier than scheduled and others have been postponed.

Due to deteriorating conditions caused by rain, Waterloo East will kick-off its opener earlier than scheduled tonight (Friday, Aug. 28). The start time for the Trojans' varsity game against Marshalltown has been moved to 6:30 p.m. at Memorial Stadium, Waterloo School officials said.

The rain also has had an impact on the freshmen game between East and the Bobcats. Originally scheduled to kick-off around 5:30 p.m. as a preliminary to varsity battle, the ninth-grade gridiron contest has been moved to Sloane Wallace Stadium in Waterloo (behind Irving Elementary School) starting at 4 p.m.

Heavy rain has forced the postponement of at least three games. Aplington-Parkersburg at Dike-New Hartford, Green Mountain-Garwin at BCLUW and AGWSR at South Hardin will all be played on Saturday.
