The Fact Is...

Have you ever closed your eyes and rubbed them so hard that you see weird stuff?  No? You liar.  Anyway, do it now and then I'll be back to explain.

Ok, I'm back.  If you close your eyes and rub them hard you'll see stars or blips of weird lights roaming around in your eyes.  There is actually a name for this.   They're called Phosphenes.

It's like seeing light when there is no light.  The rubbing actually causes the retina's cells to stimulate...haha, I said "stimulate"...causing this event to happen.  Sometimes, if you rub hard enough, you can see them after you open your eyes.

You can also see these if you experience a blow to the head.  So if someone you know can't make it happen by rubbing their eyes, whack them in the melon with a bat.
