The Fact Is...

Dogs DO NOT have cleaner mouths than humans.

Really, if you just let your brain work on it's own for 3 seconds you'd realize that dogs eat poop and garbage.  They drink from your toilet.  AND, to greet each other, they smell butts. The "dogs have cleaner mouths" myth more than likely comes from the fact that dogs make their wounds heal faster by licking them.  This is in no way attributed to them having cleaner juices in their mouths.  Licking their wounds speeds up the healing process by removing dead tissue and promoting circulation.

BUT, there is some truth to the myth.  You ARE less likely to get sick from kissing a do than you are kissing a human.  Only because the bacteria is species specific in a dog's mouth and can't hurt humans.

So, go ahead and kiss a dog.  Let that thing lick your face.  Don't worry, it's just poop tongue.
