Nearly a year-and-a-half after an accident claimed the life of a northeast Iowa farmer, reality TV star Chris Soules will be headed to trial next month.

Soules, 36, was the driver of a truck that collided with a tractor near Aurora on April 27, 2017. The accident killed 66-year-old Kenneth Mosher of Aurora, the operator of the tractor.

Mosher's tractor ended up in the ditch; Soules called for help and stayed with Mosher until emergency workers arrived. He then fled the scene of the accident, but was later found at a residence, and initially refused to come out.

Soules is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident. His trial is set to begin on Nov. 7 in Buchanan County District Court in Independence. He is scheduled to appear for a pre-trial conference on Tuesday.

Soules' attorney is calling for a change of venue, as many area residents are familiar with Soules and his television appearances, and his family has farmed in the Arlington area for many years.

The defense in the case also points to several negative Facebook comments and online reactions to Soules and the upcoming trial. The prosecution is resisting the move.

Soules had appeared in ABC tv's "The Bachelor" and "Dancing with the Stars".
