The Fayette County sheriff is looking into an incident in which three Oelwein teenagers were booked on pot charges after being pulled over for a traffic violation.

At about 11pm Tuesday, July 15th, a Fayette County deputy stopped a car at the intersection of 50th street and Highway 150, just north of Oelwein, for a stop sign violation.

When the officer made contact with the driver, he noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

After an investigation, the car's occupants, Austin Arndt, Samuel Myott, and Jared Ladeburg, all 17 years old and all from Oelwein, were arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Arndt, the driver, was also cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.

All three were released to their parents and referred to juvenile court services.
