A Cedar Rapids teenager, whose suicide attempt prompted a lockdown at an area high school, has now died from his injuries.
The unidentified 15 year old boy was found last Friday morning, outside of the Jefferson High School auditorium, suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The teen was taken to University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City late Friday morning; he was pronounced dead at about 4:30pm Saturday.

The shooting spurred a lockdown at the Cedar Rapids school, until authorities determined there was no longer a threat to other students or staff.

Counselors were made available for support.
