A West Union man could face up to 20 years in prison, if he is found guilty of sexually assaulting a teenage girl.

On Friday, the Fayette County Sheriff's office completed an investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a 15 year old girl.

29 year old Thomas Cannon was arrested at his West Union home Friday, taken to the Fayette County jail and held on $26,000 bail.
Cannon is charged with sexual abuse in the third degree.

Thomas bonded out late Saturday and will make a court appearance at a later date.

If convicted, Cannon could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison, and would have to register as a sex offender for ten years after his release.

The Fayette County sheriff is continuing the investigation, and more charges could be filed.
