Team USA Men’s Hockey Team Prepares for Olympic Pool Play

All Time Central

Former Waterloo Black Hawks team captain Joe Pavelski is among the many stars on Team USA’s Men’s Hockey team.  Team USA prepares for their three pool play games that begin on Thursday, February 13th in Sochi.

The roster includes 13 returning Olympians compared to the silver medal-winning 2010 U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team featured just three players with Olympic experience. Among those returning to the team is the MVP of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games Ryan Miller.  The reigning Conn Smythe Trophy winner and currently second in the NHL scoring race Patrick Kane also returns.

Former Waterloo Black Hawks star Joe Pavelski (San Jose Sharks) leads the list of new names for the 2014 roster. Pavelski spent two seasons with the Black Hawks from 2002 through 2004. He was the team’s captain in 2003/04 and helped Waterloo to a Clark Cup championship that spring.

Team USA’s first preliminary game is slated for Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 6:30 a.m. (CT). They face Slovakia.  Game 2 is Saturday morning at 6:00 (CT) against the host country of Russia, and Game 3 is Sunday at 6:30 a.m. (CT).  All games will be carried live on NBC Sports Network.
