Tall corn may have been a factor in a deadly two-vehicle accident in rural Bremer County.

It happened shortly after 9am Monday, at the intersection of 110th Street and Usher Avenue, about 5 miles northwest of Sumner.

A southbound car driven by 44 year old Dawn Novak of Sumner, collided in the intersection with an eastbound pickup driven by 47 year old Logan Huebner of Sumner.

Novak was pronounced dead at the scene; Huebner and his passenger, Dylan Berge, were taken to the Sumner Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

According to the Bremer County Sheriff's Office, tall corn growing near the intersection appeared to play a part in the accident, which remains under investigation.

The sheriff was assisted by Sumner Emergency Medical Services, Sumner Fire, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa DNR, and Bremer County Medical Examiner.
