The University of Northern Iowa community is mourning the death of a young student.

Caitlyn Rae Burns, a freshman from Le Claire, was found dead in her dorm room on the Cedar Falls campus around noon on Wednesday (Sept. 23, 2015).

UNI Police and local medical personnel were summoned when Burn's body was found.

Authorities have indicated that no foul play is suspected, however her death remains under investigation.

A candlelight vigil for Burns was held Wednesday night at the campus campanile.

UNI President Bill Ruud emailed students and staff, alerting them of the death, and noting that details on a memorial service will be released after they become available.
