Authorities are asking for the public's help in locating a man who they believe tried to pick up children in Waterloo this week.

Waterloo police said they received three separate reports involving lone teenage females who were approached by a man in a car offering them a ride. The reports were called in on February 4th and 5th, 2015.

In the three incidents, police said the teenagers were walking alone in the neighborhood of Argyle Street between Logan Avenue and East 4th Street. The suspect pulled up to each of the teens and offered them a ride. In one instance, the man followed a girl for several blocks.

According to police, the man was a stranger to all three girls. No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a black male, 20-to-30 years of age, with short hair and a goatee or scruffy-type beard. The vehicle is described as a foreign-type car (Honda, Hyundai, or Toyota) that is dark red or maroon. No license plate information was obtained by the victims.

Authorities are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect or the vehicle involved in the incidents. Anyone with information or who sees a vehicle with a driver that matches the suspect's description should get the license plate number and contact Waterloo police at 319-291-2515.
