The Cedar Valley Campaign for Grade-Level Reading invites community members to attend the Every Child Matters: Step Up For Kids event on Thursday, September 22. The event will run from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Waterloo Center for the Arts.

Cedar Valley Campaign for Grade-Level Reading will be a partner in a nationwide mobilization to spotlight issues affecting kids. This event will explain how the Cedar Valley community can step up for kids by furthering reading initiatives, celebrating school attendance, and developing community partnerships. Additionally, parents are encouraged to attend in order to learn strategies for how to best engage with their children and promote reading success.

Cedar Valley United Way and Operation Threshold are sponsors of the Every Child Matters: Step Up For Kids event, which is free and open to the public. The event will feature food and prizes. Parents are invited to bring their children, as volunteers will be coordinating fun activities for kids to participate in.

The Campaign for Grade-Level Reading intends to interrupt generational poverty by improving 3rd grade reading proficiencies. The campaign provides literacy initiatives and targeted community strategies in order to positively impact reading scores.
