South Tama High School golfing alum Paige Van Dyke, swinging the clubs for the University of Northern Iowa Panthers, won 2015 Whistling Straits Intercollegiate at Meadows Valley in Sheboygan, WI.

It is the first collegiate victory for Van Dyk, a sophomore from Tama, Iowa. Van Dyk put it in cruise control on her way to the title as she was even-par on her first 11 holes of the third round. Van Dyk carded her lone birdie of the final round at the par-3 third, a hole that only gave up a total of five birdies on the day. Van Dyk led the field with six birdies in the 54-hole event.

Van Dyk fired rounds of 71-83-78 for a three-round total of 232 (+16). The 71 she shot in the first round was the best round in the tournament by five shots. The 71 is also a career-low round for Van Dyk.

Van Dyk's win is UNI's first medalist honor since Sarah Boss won the Braun Intercollegiate on Oct. 28-29, 2013.

Maddie Bertsch tied for 17th with scores of 82-84-87 (+37).

Overall, the UNI women placed sixth out of nine teams in the event. Richmond won the women's team title with a three-round total of 967 (+40).
