Cedar Falls police have arrested six teenagers in connection with a $22,000 crime spree at a local department store.

According to Lieutenant Tim Smith, the teenagers were arrested on Tuesday (February 3, 2015) and police are searching for a seventh teenager in the case.

Investigators say a 17-year-old cashier at Kohl’s helped her friends take a total of $22,136.58 in merchandise without paying. The cashier is accused of scanning the items and voiding the transactions, allowing her friends to leave the store with the merchandise and voided receipts.

The crime spree occurred between December 3 and December 17, 2014, Smith said.

The store employee is charged with first-degree theft. The five other teens arrested are charged with 2nd- and 3rd-degree theft.

Police are searching for a seventh person they believe was involved in the thefts. Authorities have issued a warrant for his arrest for 2nd-degree theft.
