One person has been arrested, following a late night shooting incident in Waterloo.

A Waterloo police officer, identified as Tyler Brownell, responded to a report of gunshots fired in the area of the 700 block of West Parker Street, just before 11:30 p.m. Sunday (May 21, 2017).

Officer Brownell observed what was described as a suspicious person, 2 blocks away. When Brownell approached, the person fired a shot at the officer.

Brownell was not hit, and chased the suspect down on foot. The officer did not return fire.

Arrested was 22 year old Miquelle Duprie Miller of Waterloo. Miller was charged with intimidation with a weapon, being a felon in possession of a firearm, interference with official acts, assault on a peace officer, and carrying weapons.

Police did find a pistol that had been tossed into the backyard of an area residence.

The incident is still under investigation by Waterloo police.
