The citizens of Shell Rock, Iowa are dealing with a flood record.

On June 10, 2008, the Shell Rock River peaked out at 20.36 feet. At 2:45 PM on September 23, 2016, the National Weather Service reported a river crest of 21.51 feet or 1.15 feet higher than the previous flood record.

By 6:24 PM, the Shell Rock River had started to recede. At 7:45 PM, the river was measured at 21.32 feet.

That's a positive sign. The Shell Rock River has started a downward trend. Hopefully the weather forecast will cooperate, and the river will continue to return to its normal level.
