One major event could save the movie theater industry. For one night only, 'Sharknado 2: The Scond One' will be shown on the movie screens all across the country.

According to The Wrap, the SyFy sequel, which features a sharknado striking New York City, will be shown in 400 theaters for one night only on August 21.

… And yes, it will be shown right here in the Cedar Valley. The Marcus College Square Theater will host this extravaganza.

In addition to Sharknado 2: The Second One, we will get a chance to see exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the making of the 2013 original Sharknado.

The first Sharknado was also screened in theaters for one night only last year and was a huge hit.

The screening will be presented by Fathom Events. Company CEO John Rubey tells The Wrap, “We anticipate the tidal wave of Sharknado fans will hit local movie theaters once again…as fans get their next chance to experience this phenomenon in the biggest way possible.”

Did he really just say 'tidal wave'?

Sharknado 2 snagged just under four million viewers when it premiered last week, about two-and-a-half million more than the original when it first aired.

Batten down the hatches, because the Sharknado franchise will follow the grand traditions of movies like 'Star Wars' and 'The Godfather' with a third movie to complete the trilogy.  SyFy has already ordered 'Sharknado 3'.
