Serious Accident in Bremer County

Two people have been seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident in rural Bremer County.
It happened at about 4:45pm Thursday (Sept. 15), southwest of Sumner, at the intersection of Bremer County Roads C-33 and V-56.

An eastbound vehicle driven by Laura Hagemann of St. Paul, Minnesota, failed to stop at the stop sign, and was struck by a southbound vehicle driven by Jennifer Gruber of Sumner.

Hagemann was initially taken to the Sumner hospital, then air-cared to University Hospitals in Iowa City, with life-threatening injuries.

Gruber was also taken to Community Memorial Hospital in Sumner, and then transferred to Allen Hospital with serious injuries.

The accident is under investigation by the Bremer County Sheriff, with assistance from Sumner Fire and EMS, and Readlyn First Responders.
