Rural Fayette County Man Wanted For Assault Charges

Authorities in Fayette County are looking for a rural Elgin man who allegedly assaulted his wife during a domestic disturbance on Tuesday (June 14, 2016).

Jeremiah Young, 37, is currently wanted on charges of simple domestic abuse assault and assault with dangerous weapon in connection with the incident.

According to Fayette County sheriff's officials, they were notified of the domestic disturbance shortly after it occurred. A follow-up investigation showed that Young's wife attempted to get away in a vehicle after being assaulted during the argument. Deputies said as she tried to leave, Young rammed her vehicle with another vehicle at least three times.

Each of the vehicles involved in the incident sustained several thousand dollars damage. Fayette County sheriff's officials said Young's wife wasn't injured when her vehicle was rammed.

Deputies said Young fled the scene when he learned that they were called to investigate the disturbance. Authorities have issued a warrant for his arrest.
