Three-fifths of the field is set for the State High School Softball Tournament. AGWSR, Don Bosco, Center Point-Urbana and Crestwood are among the 24 teams in Iowa's three smallest classes that earned a trip to Fort Dodge by winning regional championship games Monday night (July 13, 2015).

No. 5 AGWSR earned its third-straight trip to state by beating 13th-ranked North Butler, 7-0, in the Class-1A regional championship game played at Parkersburg. Ashely Sicard threw a no-hitter for the Cougars and hit a two-home run.

AGWSR (26-8) will play eighth-ranked Bellevue Marquette Catholic (30-5) in the state quarterfinals at 11 a.m. on Tuesday (July 21).

Sixth-ranked Don Bosco is also among the eight teams in the Class-1A field. The Dons ended their one-year absence at state with an 8-5 victory over Janesville at Robinson-Dresser Field in Cedar Falls Monday night.

Don Bosco (33-5) will open its bid for a state title against No. 7 Logan-Magnolia (33-3) at 7:30 p.m. on Monday (July 20).

In Class-3A, ninth-ranked Crestwood earned a trip to state by beating Algona, 12-2, in a regional final at Clear Lake. The Cadets took control of the game with an eight-run seventh inning.

Crestwood (25-5) next faces fourth-ranked Greene County (30-6) in the state quarterfinals at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday (July 21).

A year ago, Center Point-Urbana earned a trip to state 20 years after its first appearance. The Stormin' Pointers aren't waiting as long for another appearance.

No. 8 Center Point-Urbana quaranteed its second-straight tournament berth with a 4-2 victory over sixth-rated Waterloo Columbus Catholic in a Class-3A regional final at Independence. The outcome denied the Sailors their first trip to state.

Center Point-Urbana's Claire Holtz decided the game with in the seventh inning. Her double to the fence drove in two runs, breaking a 2-all tie.

The Stormin' Pointers (29-13) move on to face No. 7 Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley (31-3) in the state quarterfinals at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday (July 21).

The state softball tournament will be played at Harlan and Hazel Rogers Park in Fort Dodge, beginning Monday and continuing through Friday, July 24th.
