It's always hard to say goodbye. It's even harder to say goodbye when a life is taken from us way too soon. My friend, my colleague, my radio brother Shark passed away this week after a brave battle with cancer. R.I.P. Shark. We already miss you.

Gregg "Shark" Scharnau was a close radio brother of mine. He led the rockers of 94.1 KRNA for the past few years as the Brand Manager and Afternoon host, until he left that position to focus on his family as his health started to deteriorate. Never during this time, did any of us hear him complain about the cards he was dealt. Shark was a strong soul.

Over the past 5 to 10 years, Shark and I would talk weekly and throw ideas at each other, make fun of the "suits" at corporate and just shoot the shit. He always made me feel better about any frustrations I may have. He was ready with quick, and very sarcastic, wit and never had issues making those around him laugh. Always ready to help and always ready to do what needed to be done.

Cancer took another fine soul. A great coworker, friend, husband, son, brother and most importantly, father. He leaves behind a wife and 4 children. He also leaves behind an enormous group of people who had the pleasure of knowing Gregg and called him friend.

Hug your friends, family and loved ones. Tell the people closest to you what they mean to you. Appreciate the air you breathe and the work you get to do. Your time is going to come. It's inevitable. Make the most of what you have.

R.I.P. Gregg 'Shark' Scharnau.
