The Waterloo School District is hosting five community meetings this month (November, 2014) to give the public a chance to hear about high school reform options and to offer feedback before a plan is finalized.

"After looking at multiple options over the last few years, we’ve honed in on a few ideas that will move us forward," said Dr. Jane Lindaman, Waterloo Schools Superintendent. "We are excited about sharing those ideas with the community and getting their feedback."

For three years, a high school task force has been working to gather information and ideas from school districts across the country offering career and technical training programs to their students. In the coming years, Waterloo Schools is considering an expansion of career and technical courses to better prepare students for available jobs.

“We’re looking forward to sharing the ideas generated by the High School Reform task force at the town hall meetings in November," Lindaman said. "Providing educational opportunities for our students in the area of technical education will fully engage kids while giving them a jump-start on life after high school, whether that’s college or work."

Waterloo School District officials presented several options for discussion at a public forum Thursday night (November 6th). They are encouraging the public to attend one of the follwing four remaining forums and give input on the proposals:
