High winds and a wintry mix of precipitation may have played a role in an electrical outage in Northeast Iowa early this morning (Monday, March 5).

Alliant Energy reported about 800 customers were without power for a couple of hours, starting around 5:30am.

The electrical outage happened in Buchanan, Black Hawk and Fayette Counties.

Power was restored to most, if not all customers, by 8am.

The outage effected the studios of AM-950, KOEL in Oelwein, which receives electrical service from Alliant's substation, south of Hazleton.
