It was a picture perfect season for the Gladbrook-Reinbeck Rebels boys basketball team. After 28 games, the Rebels earned a perfect 28 wins, and most importantly, they won the 2015 Class 1A Iowa High School boys basketball state championship.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck (28-0) faced off against Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto (26-2) for the Class 1A championship on Friday, March 13, 2015. It was the G-R Rebels' first ever trip to the championship game. After a hard fought battle, Gladbrook-Reinbeck eliminated MVAO with a 64-52 win.

The Rebels took control in the second quarter. A three-pointer by senior guard Camden Kickbush with 5:00 left in the first half triggered an 11-0 run that ended when the Rams made a field with 7:30 left in the third-quarter. The game was tied at 21-all when Gladbrook-Reinbeck began the decisive spurt.

The top-ranked Rebels also closed the third-quarter on an 8-0 run and led the third-ranked Rams 48-33 entering the fourth quarter.

Kickbush tallied 20 points, 12 off of three-pointers, to lead G-R in scoring. He was honored by being selected to the 2015 Class 1A All-Tournament Team.

GR's Joe Smoldt was named caption of the Class 1A All-Tournament team. Smoldt, a sophomore guard, scored 10 points in the championship game.

Senior Zach Pierce also scored 10 points and led the team with five assists.

Congratulations to the Rebels of Gladbrook-Reinbeck on the 2015 Championship and a perfect 28-0 record.
