Black Hawk County authorities are investigating a two-vehicle accident that killed one person and injured three others Tuesday afternoon (July 14, 2015).

The crash occurred around 1:45 p.m. at the intersection Iowa Highway 21 (Hawkeye Road) and East Schrock Road, south of Waterloo.

According to sheriff's officials, a westbound dump truck disobeyed a stop sign on East Schrock Road and pulled into the path of a vehicle, which was northbound on Iowa Highway 21. The dump truck driver died in the crash, while three people in the car were transported to a Waterloo hospital, sheriff's officials said.

The car's driver -- Katherine Keister, 37, of Buckingham -- was taken to Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo for treatment of multiple injuries. Also hospitalized were a 1-year-old boy, who received multiple injuries, and a 5-year-old boy, who suffered an arm injury.

Authorities later identified the dump truck driver as Robert Stedman, 66, of Waterloo. Sheriff's officials said he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
