Waterloo police are investigating a pair of shootings that left one person dead and another injured Monday night (Sept. 10, 2018).

According to a press release, the fatal shooting occurred at a home at 84 Ricker St. 9:45 PM. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim suffering from a gunshot wound. She was later pronounced dead at a local hospital, Waterloo police said.

The victim's name has not yet been released, pending notification of relatives. An autopsy has been scheduled with the Iowa State Medical Examiner's Office.

The other shooting occurred about three hours earlier in the 700 block of Logan Ave., less than a mile away. According to a report, police were responded to the first call of shots fired around 6:20 PM.

Authorities said they learned during the investigation that a male subject had been transported to UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital by private vehicle. Corey Dunn, 18, was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, police said.

Officials have not indicated whether they believe the two shootings are related. Both incidents remain under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Waterloo police.
